About this Limited Edition:
Our inaugural release of this product is machined from solid brass and stainless steel. It carries an impressive heft for its small stature, and its brass joint construction allows the assembly's movement to become smoother with use. While the stainless steel's appearance will remain the same, the KInetadisc's bright brass components will slowly gain a darker patina over time. This is normal, and is created by the oils in the operators' hands.?
The LE1 Kinetadisc Duo comes with a standard set of tray sizes: the upper and lower trays both inner diameters of 26mm, and the upper tray has a depth of 3.2mm while the lower tray has a depth of 7.1mm.?
For those desiring additional customization, we're offering laser-engraved custom messages and star fields for an additional fee at checkout. Messages are applied on the bottom surface of the lower ring tray along its arced outer perimeter such that the inscription is visible when the assembly is open but concealed when closed. Star fields are applied identically on the top and bottom stainless steel faces of the Kinetadisc, depicting the night sky overhead at a specific time, date, and location chosen by the buyer. The parameters of this moment are captured in an additional engraving similar to custom messages.

Originally created as a present for a friends¡¯ wedding, the Kinetadisc Duo is designed to securely hold and dynamically presents two wedding bands during a wedding ceremony. Its thin construction is intended to help the assembly be more discretely held in a pants pocket or jacket, while still looking beautiful when closed, opening, and open.
The Kinetadisc's patent-pending design uses two four bar linkages joined with two common links to allow the synchronized deployment of two brass trays in one fluid motion. Its single degree of freedom motion is both satisfying and mesmerizing, even after years of use. The underlying mechanism draws from the field of Developable Mechanisms and is strongly inspired by the work of the Compliant Mechanism Research Laboratory led by Larry Howell at Brigham Young University.
